Though associated with minimalist music the New York composer, musician, visual artist Charlemagne Palestine is a self proclaimed maximalist. As of September 8th until October 6th an expo of his highly ornate and colourful art work will be a common visual thread throughout (From) Bach To The Future. In addition to the expo Palestine will of course perform. On September 8th Seppe Gebruers will play a brand new creation by Charlemagne Palestine titled AAA NeWWwwwww MMegggAAaa  Charlemagne Palestine  CCCccharleRinGGggGgggg!!! on the carillon of Antwerp’s Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe Cathedral (18.00) followed by the expo opening (19.00) and a piano solo concert (21.00) at the beautiful Museum Vleeshuis.

After the solo piano concert of Charlemagne Palestine ticket holders of this (From) Bach To The Future event can exchange their ticket for a free ticket for the concert of Asmus Tietchens and Entr’acte cd-presentation, starts at 22.15 at Table Dance, just around the corner of Museum Vleeshuis.

(FROM) BACH TO THE FUTURE

‘(From) Bach to the Future’ – is an adventurous concert series at the Museum Vleeshuis and a great opportunity to casually discover how Baroque still lives on in contemporary music, albeit in different forms. Not just in the obvious context of classical music, but also in the world of free improv, contemporary composition, world music and the avant-garde.

With Antwerp’s Museum Vleeshuis –  encompassing 600 years of music history, as the perfect location and renowned musicians like Aisha Orazbayeva, Tim Etchells, Mary Jane Leach, Raphael Rogiński, Maya Homburger, Barry Guy, Charlemagne Palestine, Frederik Leroux, Heleen Van Haegenborgh, Eline Duerinck, Jan Daelman, Marjolein Vernimmen and Yves De Mey the public can hear and see how improvisation and experimentation relate to the Baroque, how you can still recognise Baroque elements in improvisation, contemporary composition and experimental music. The concert series includes five events/concerts and an exhibition.
