Mette Rasmussen (alto sax) & Pak Yan Lau (piano, electronics) play two live shows in the Oorstof series. The first show on Thursday 30/11 at AB Salon is a double bill with the new generation of Chicago improvisors Steve Marquette (guitar), Macie Stewart (violin) and Charlie Kirchen (bass) performing as the Few. This is a free/gratis show, doors open at 19.45. The second show of Rasmussen & Lau is on Sunday December 3rd at DE Studio and that’s a double bill with the superb trio of Farida Amadou (bass), Audrey Lauro (alto sax) and Hanne De Backer (baritone sax) who invite percussionist Tom Malmendier and set out as a 4tet. Doors open at 19.30, reservations for this show can be made at reservations (at) soundinmotion.be

On Tuesday October 11th, yes that’s tomorrow folks, Oorstof presents the only European duo show of Ken Vandermark & Terrie Ex at DE Studio. Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity. For the second event of this fall season Oorstof moves to DE Studio on Thursday October 6th for a unique triple bill presenting the world premiere of Mars Baars – the captivating duo of reed players Mars Williams and Ab Baars, the Belgian debut of the Norwegian trio Momentum with drummer Andreas Wildhagen and bass player Christian Meaas Svendsen – both part of Large Unit – and reed player Jørgen Mathisen, and a solo piano set by Ka Baird (Spires That in The Sunset Rise) touching on Alice Coltrane, Cecil Taylor and Arvo Pärt. Just 5 days later on Tuesday October 11th again at DE Studio it’s time for renowned players Ken Vandermark (reeds) and Terrie Ex (guitar) in an explosive duo. Opening this adventurous double bill will be Nystagmus, the noisy improv duo of percussionist Tom Malmendier and bass player Farida Amadou.
