Bill Orcutt turned to making films after the legendary noise-rock combo Harry Pussy threw in the towel in 1997. It was 12 years until he picked up a guitar again. Orcutt’s music is raw, minimalist and based on early American guitar traditions like primitivism or blues. He has managed to create his own fascinating style, often dissonant and always extremely unpredictable. Aside from an extensive solo catalogue, he also plays regularly with other great names in the improv scene (Peter Brötzmann, Loren Connors, Sir Richard Bishop, Thurston Moore, Okkyung Lee, Bill Nace …).
Chris Corsano might well be the ‘hardest working’ (and most fascinating) drummer of his generation, active at the intersection of free jazz, improv, avant rock and noise. The list of people that he has regularly worked with is endless and indicates an open musical mind. Just a few names, to give an idea: Evan Parker, Sunburned Hand Of The Man, Six Organs Of Admittance, Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, Nels Cline, Vibracathedral Orchestra, Jim O’Rourke, Jandek, C. Spencer Yeh, Björk, Massimo Pupillo, Pak Yan Lau, Nate Wooley, Paul Flaherty, Okkyung Lee …Corsano’s style has developed into a dynamic amalgam of extensive techniques for drum and non-percussive self-made instruments.
