FLEITŲ 3 is a flute trio from Vilnius, Lithuania, featuring Mėta Gabrielė Pelegrimaitė (concert flute), Salomėja Kalvelytė (concert flute, alto flute), and Kristupas Gikas (concert flute, bass flute). The trio uses compositions as a starting point for free improvisations, allowing the three identical instruments to resonate together while exploring their differences. The familiar sonority of the flute gradually transforms into strange, almost electronic textures during their performance.
In addition to the concert flute, the lesser-known alto and bass flutes are featured, enabling listeners to both drift away in soothing ambient sounds and feel unsettled by dissonant overtones.
Milana Sarukhanyan (*Krim) is a Ukrainian opera singer and improviser. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Music in London and has been based in Bradford since 2023. Sarukhanyan uniquely bridges two worlds: the precision of classical and contemporary vocal repertoire, honed through rigorous classical training, with the unconventional sounds of free improvisation, avant-garde, experimental, and new music.
She is a member of the legendary London Improvisers Orchestra and frequently collaborates with notable figures such as Phil Minton, Maggie Nicols, Steve Beresford, and Christoph Galli. Her performances have graced renowned venues including Café OTO and Hundred Years Gallery in London.
Christoph Götzen (*Düsseldorf) is an experimental guitarist, composer, organiser, and a key figure in the avant-garde scene of his native Düsseldorf. Since 2020, Antwerp has been his base, from which he has launched various musical ventures globally, including organising a week-long residency with 14 musicians from different countries in Sidrabini, Latvia.
Sarukhanyan and Götzen work almost telepathically, where boundlessness is the foundation and controlled freedom is the norm.
