Interlinie is a compact concert tour aimed at cross-pollinating Dutch and Belgian improvisation, experimental music and jazz. For the second edition of Interlinie the band Old Adam on Turtle Island will perform on 5 different stages both in Belgium and The Netherlands, accompanied by different Belgium based musicians.
For the stop at Rataplan/SiM-Oorstof the band will perform next to the unique guembri player Imane Guemssy (solo) and reed player Hanne De Backer who presents a brand new g a b b r o release GROUNDSPEED (g a b b r o Records/Dropa Disc) with Raphael Vanoli (guitar) and Casper Van De Velde (drums).
Interlinie 2025 is created by Space is the Place, BIMHUIS, Ha Concerts, POM, Sound in Motion, Rataplan and KAAP.

Old Adam on Turtle Island is led by tenor saxophonist John Dikeman, who championed free jazz out of Amsterdam for years and is currently based in Ostend. For this band he composed a song cycle about colonization and the double-edged sword of religion. Expect deep emotion and interaction by top players from Amsterdam’s improv scene: pianist Marta Warelis, bassist Aaron Lumley and drummer Sun-Mi Hong. Their debut album appeared on the New York-based label Relative Pitch Records.
g a b b r o (BE/NL/FR/DE)

g a b b r o is a collective with a varying line-up led by Hanne De Backer, aimed at investigating the impact of improvised music on its surroundings and vice versa. For example, she has organised concerts and recordings at sewer canals, laundromats and even a prison. In 2024 she travelled from Brussels to the mysterious village of Gabbro in Italy. This led to the current g a b b r o line-up with guitarist Raphael Vanoli and drummer Casper Van De Velde, which recorded the brand new fourth album ‘GROUNDSPEED‘, released on g a b b r o Records / Dropa Disc – official release date 30 October – and presented during this tour coinciding with the Interlinie shows.

Imane Guemssy is one of the first women to break the taboos surrounding the male-dominated Gnawa music genre by practicing it herself. She became a symbol of courage and determination. Guemssy combines traditional Gnawa with modern influences, without losing its essence. Her performance is a harmonious balance between singing and the guembri, a key instrument in Gnawa music. With her powerful, emotive voice, she succeeds in conveying deep emotions, touching the hearts of her audience, and redefining the musical landscape of her ancestral art.
