Interlinie is a compact concert tour focusing on the cross-pollination of Dutch and Belgian improvisation, experimental music, and jazz. Through encounters between diverse musical practices, Interlinie aims to stimulate new artistic work and build lasting collaborations.

For its third edition, Parzelle, Space is the Place, and Sound in Motion are presenting a double bill featuring the distinctive voices of Mother Tongue: Frank Rosaly, Mola Sylla and Oscar Jan Hoogland and As Yet Untitled: Bex Burch, Esther Coorevits, Stan Maris and James McClure. The project As Yet Untitled is an ever evolving constellation, bringing together international artists.

As Yet Untitled: Bex Burch (UK/DE) – Esther Coorevits (BE) – Stan Maris (BE) – James McClure (ZA/NL)

Berlin-based British composer, percussionist, and instrument maker Bex Burch brings her signature ‘messy minimalism’ to Bimhuis with As yet untitled—a work in progress.

Grounded in space, repetition, and deliberate chaos, As yet untitled balances composed structures with uninhibited improvisation to create deeply immersive sonic environments.
This special performance celebrates and leans in to the sound of your own communities. Joining her in this international quartet are South African, Amsterdam-based trumpet player James McClure (Sofaya), Belgian talents Stan Maris (Kin Gajo) on accordion and multi-instrumentalist Esther Coorevits (Nemø Ensemble). A conversation between found sounds, audience voices and the wonderful creativity of each ensemble member, Burch’s approach embraces sonic texture, unpredictability, and a deeply collaborative spirit.

Mother Tongue (SN/PR/US/NL)

Mother Tongue consists of drummer Frank Rosaly, griot singer Mola Sylla, and improvising keyboard player Oscar Jan Hoogland. Each brings a unique set of instruments and their own cultural background, resulting in a distinct and idiosyncratic synergy.
Singer and percussionist Mola Sylla is in many ways a musical explorer. Born and raised in Dakar, Senegal, he grew up within the tradition of the griots—poets and praise singers who pass down stories, often interwoven with theater and dance. That rich tradition of musical storytelling remains at the core of Sylla’s signature sound. Puerto Rican drummer Frank Rosaly has been active in the improvised and experimental music scene since 2001. He made a name for himself in Chicago, a city with a vibrant improvisation, rock, and jazz culture, where he grew into a musical icon. Today he lives in Amsterdam, where he plays an important role in the local improv scene as well. He has previously performed at Rataplan with various projects, including Mestixz. Oscar Jan Hoogland embodies the liveliness of his hometown, Amsterdam. As an instant composer and instrument inventor, his instrumentarium includes a clavichord hooked up to 220-volt electricity. As the last pupil of the late pianist, composer and improviser Misha Mengelberg, he moves through the Amsterdam jazz and improv scene like a tornado.
Mola Sylla: voice, percussion
Frank Rosaly: drums
Oscar Jan Hoogland: electric clavichord
