Minla is the Brussels-based band led by singer Mirte Leconte and trumpeter Marthe Van Droogenbroeck. Their music is centered around voice and trumpet, taking you on a dreamy, atmospheric journey. The music blends influences from jazz, electronics, and alternative pop, resulting in a unique, cinematic sound.
Their first EP as a full band was recorded in February 2023. In 2020, Minla was selected as young talent at Dinant Jazz, and since last year, they have been artists in residence at Volta (Brussels). They also reached the preliminaries of the international B-Jazz competition organized by Muziekmozaïek in the spring of 2024.
The young Norwegian band KRISE focuses on microtonality, blending it with their own folklore, rock, contemporary classical music, and club music. Emil Bø (trombone), Anna Ueland (synth), Bjørn André Syverinsen (drums/percussion), and Kristian Enkerud Lien (guitar/lap steel/compositions) draw inspiration from composers such as Eivind Groven, Ben Johnston, and Harry Partch, and they enjoy using notes that fall outside conventional tuning systems.
These sounds may initially seem ‘out of tune’ to many listeners, but that’s precisely the point. Over time, your ear adjusts, and the hypnotic rhythms they create deepen the listening experience.
