The Swiss-Lebanese duo of clarinetist Paed Conca (Praed Orchestra) and multi-instrumentalist Nadia Daou (Nar) delivered musical fireworks as The Mad Laboratory of Anti-Matter at last years Summer Bummer Festival. Their intense and highly acclaimed set left the audience wanting more.
With a mix of unconventional sounds and intense rhythms, they create a raw, industrial, and unfiltered experiment with a compulsive urge towards danger. Conca and Daou channel the impending end with surprisingly joyful music for angry people. The debut release Study of a dead end vol. 1: Annihilation of denial is planned this spring on the Brussels based label moli del tro.
Originally inspired by the album Free Fall by the American reed player and composer Jimmy Guiffre, the trio of Adia Vanheerentals (soprano, tenor sax), Simon Beeckaert (bass), and Hendrik Lasure (piano) is looking for a beautiful balance between composition and improvisation. With a series of their own compositions as a guide, they take the listener on a highly dynamic musical ride.
The music platform Klankhaven and Sound in Motion’s Oorstof concert series are joining forces for a monthly program at Rataplan. As purveyors of adventurous and challenging music, they pair pioneers and key figures from various genres with young talent from both home and abroad.
