Tomo Katsurada (Kikagaku Moyo) translates the dreamy soundtrack for his illustrated debut Dream of The Egg into a haunting live set, Macy Stewart presents her surprising debut When the Distance Is Blue for the ubiquitous International Anthem, and the duo of Lia Kohl & Whitney Johnson presents For Translucence, a powerful debut for the iconic Drag City. The SiM Sound System will propel you in the perfect mood for this intriguing tripple bill presented by Trix and SiM/Oorstof.

Tomo Katsurada (JP)

Known as the founder and singer of the Japanese psychedelic band Kikagaku Moyo, Tomo Katsurada, is now exploring new artistic paths as a solo artist. Blending music with visual art, he created an intimate and dreamy soundtrack for his debut album/picture book Dream of the Egg. Featuring guest musician Jonny Nash and a fusion of folk, improvisation, and raw emotion, he invites listeners on an enchanting journey where imperfection and spontaneity create the magic. If the beautiful reinterpretation Katsurada made of Gabriel Yared’s Bungalow Zen – from the soundtrack of Betty Blue (37°2 le matin) – is an indication, we are in for an very special musical ride indeed…

Macie Stewart (US)

Macie Stewart is a prominent, highly sought-after collaborator with an impressive track record. She has previously worked with Makaya McCraven, Ben LaMar Gay and Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), written arrangements for Alabaster DePlume, Resavoir, Mannequin Pussy, and SZA, was part of Ken Vandermark’s Marker, and immerses herself in the art of songwriting with Finom, her duo with songwriter Sima Cunningham. For her debut, When the Distance Is Blue, she returns to her first musical love, the piano, and takes the listener to all the forgotten and lost moments that inevitably occur during intensive touring.
