On Sunday December 10th at DE Studio legendary improvisors Joe McPhee and Cel Overberghe will share the stage once more. Just 3 days later on Wednesday December 13th Fred Van Hove will play the majestic organ at the Henri Leboeuf Hall at Bozar. Seppe Gebruers and Joachim Badenhorst will start this Fred Van Hove at 80 event on organ and bass clarinet. Tickets can be purchased at this ticket link !

Mette Rasmussen (alto sax) & Pak Yan Lau (piano, electronics) play two live shows in the Oorstof series. The first show on Thursday 30/11 at AB Salon is a double bill with the new generation of Chicago improvisors Steve Marquette (guitar), Macie Stewart (violin) and Charlie Kirchen (bass) performing as the Few. This is a free/gratis show, doors open at 19.45. The second show of Rasmussen & Lau is on Sunday December 3rd at DE Studio and that’s a double bill with the superb trio of Farida Amadou (bass), Audrey Lauro (alto sax) and Hanne De Backer (baritone sax) who invite percussionist Tom Malmendier and set out as a 4tet. We already heard some tunes of g a b b r o’s debut lp and can say it’s a killer. g a b b r o is the adventurous baritone sax duo Hanne De Backer and Marc De Maeseneer and they will present the lp and throw in a live show this Thursday May 4th when Oorstof heads back to DE Studio. Same day Oorstof presents also the Belgian debut of the challenging Norwegian quintet Nakama. The announced Australian Open III fest on June 3rd will be replaced. We keep the date but Kraak & Oorstof will make sure it’s worth it to come down and celebrate the end of the spring season. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.

Some Dropa Disc news: Both the Ballister lp/dvd (pal): Low Level Stink and the Evan Parker, John Edwards, Steve Noble cd: PEN are going very strong. Since the official launch on March 19th we are down to the less than 100 copies of the Ballister lp/dvd (edition of 300) and less than 150 copies (edition of 500) of the PEN cd. So if you haven’t got your copy yet just get some at the next Oorstof-events or go to dropadisc.com and order some. Also these fine online outlets offer the Dropa Disc-releases: Squidco, Metamkine (also distribution), Instant Jazz, Soundohm and these local record stores with good taste: Morbus Gravis, Tune Up, Mark Sound, Wally’s Grooveworld (Antwerp) and Music Mania (Ghent)
