Hearts and Minds is a trio that combines brash fluidity, raw lyricism, and emphatic grooves into a challenging musical universe. Bass clarinetist Jason Stein (Natural Information Society, Nature Work …) and keyboard player Paul Giallorenzo (Ben LaMar Gay, PG Trio) are two mainstays of the Chicago jazz and improvisation scene. Add to that the brilliant drummer – and ex-Chicago resident – Chad Taylor (Jamie Branch, James Brandon Lewis, Chicago Underground) and the perfect base for this singularly original unit is a fact. Astral Spirits, home to good people like The Separatist Party, Amirtha Kidambi, Lea Bertucci, and Ava Mendoza, is planning ‘Illuminescence’ the third release of Hearts and Minds in September.
