AB Club
Closing out their ‘2024 Spring EU/UK tour’, American noise combo Wolf Eyes is once again visiting AB for the first time since 2017. For this concert, Nate Young and John Olson have expanded into a trio with Belgian saxophonist and composer Hanne De Backer as their third member.
Since their +25 years of existence, Wolf Eyes has left an indelible mark on the avant-garde and noise scene of recent decades. Their output is inexhaustible, with masses of ‘official’ releases on labels such as De Stijl, Sub Pop, Hospital Productions and even Third Man records and lots of obscure CDRs, tapes and digital releases. The band has always been looking for interesting collaborations so they shared the stage and made recordings with many big names from the improv and noise scene such as Anthony Braxton, Merzbow, Sonic Youth, Dominick Fernow / Prurient, Black Dice, Double Leopards, Smegma, John Wiese, Andrew W.K., Jaimie Branch, Richard Pinhas,…
Hanne De Backer is known for her g a b b r o -project and collaborations with Condor Gruppe, Ken Vandermark, Signe Emmeluth, Terrie Hessels and Paal Nilssen-Love. In recent years, Hanne has become a fixture on the flourishing Belgian improv scene with her energetic and powerful sax playing. She was recently invited by BOZAR for a carte blanche, for which she invited Marta Warelis, Hamid Drake and Beate Wiesinger.
