Description
Asked if they would be interested to perform at the Summer Bummer Festival in 2019 with reed player Peter Brötzmann, both bass player Farida Amadou and drummer Steve Noble replied with a quick and definite ‘yes’. The plans to join forces with this iconic player existed already and the Summer Bummer Festival would be ideal to meet on stage for the first time. To show the extreme musical diversity of Noble and Amadou, another trio was added on the 2nd day of the festival, one that shook things up earlier at London’s Cafe Oto, when Thurston Moore – another key player that just like Brötzmann never ceases to challenge and defy the mainstream standards – joined Amadou and Noble for some blistering improvised sets.
The results of these highly energetic but very contrasting on stage meetings at the Summer Bummer Festival in 2019 were recorded, assembled and made available as M.A.N. – B.A.N., a limited double gatefold lp on the Dropa Disc imprint. On general request Dropa Disc now makes both the M.A.N. and the B.A.N. recordings available as separate downloads. On this page you can purchase the B.A.N. recording
Peter Brötzmann’s ferocious opening lament on B.A.N. is instantly met by Steve Noble and Farida Amadou with a complex rhythmic web that pushes the dynamics to the limits but acts as a safeguard on this auditive rollercoaster as well.
