GHOSTED: OREN AMBARCHI – JOHAN BERTHLING – ANDREAS WERLIIN

Last year, legendary Chicago label Drag City released ‘Ghosted’ by the collaborative trio of Oren Ambarchi, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin. Although they had been making music together in different groups and constellations for many years, their first joint effort as a trio proved to be exceptional. With the music taking form in the fertile space between jazz, minimal music, krautrock and African (poly)rhythms, the trio creates deep, entrancing grooves, subtly layered and constantly transforming.

Australian guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Ambarchi is one of the experimental scene’s most recognisable figures, with iconic albums on Kranky, Editions Mego and his own Black Truffle label, while Swedish bassist Johan Berthling is best known for performing in bands such as Fire! and Tape. Drummer Andreas Werliin completes the puzzle, bringing his varied experience playing with Wildbirds & Peacedrums and Fire!

Due to an unfortunate cycling accident, Ghosted had to cancel their concert at Summer Bummer. We are therefore delighted to team up with STUK to bring this fantastic live trio to Belgium for the first time during Artefact.

Jules Reidy

Jules Reidy is an Australian musician living in Berlin. Using only guitar and voice, Reidy’s music is one of a kind: repetitive fingerpicking on 12-string guitar (in ‘just intonation’), haunting vocals with a touch of autotune, subtle electronic tones and effects. It’s alienating and futuristic at the same time. Reidy already released quite a few albums on labels such as Editions Mego and Oren Ambarchi’s Black Truffle, like the much acclaimed solo album ‘World In World’ (2022). In November, a new solo album ‘Trances’ was released on Shelter Press, which, according to some, might end up in the canon of contemporary guitar classics!
