This Friday May 12th Oorstof and het Bos team up for super nice and challenging triple bill. Jooklo Duo’s Virginia Genta (sax) and David Vanzan (percussion) team up with sax player Stanley J. Zappa (Yes, that’s Frank’s nephew) as Jooklo Zappa. The superb Portugese trio of Ricardo Jacinto (cello), Gonçalo Almeida (double bass) and Nuno Morão (drums) present their multi-idiomatic approach to free jazz as The Selva and Audrey Lauro (sax), Yuko Oshima (percussion, electronics) and Pak Yan Lau (electronics, keyboard) further explore sounds in their own dimension as lauroshilau. More Oorstof activity this month: Sunday May 21st Matthew Shipp & Ivo Perelman at L’Archiduc (afternoon show starts at 5 pm, doors 4pm).
The announced Australian Open III fest on June 3rd will be replaced. We keep the date but Kraak & Oorstof will make sure it’s worth it to come down and celebrate the end of the spring season. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.

On Thursday 16 February at Het Bos (Bos Bar) there’s a Dropa Disc label presentation in the Closet of Records series with a live show of Jeph Jerman & Tim Barnes (around 20.30) and Dropa Disc’s Koen Vandenhoudt spinning records (as of 18.00). It’s a free/gratis event, plenty of space and those who come early can grab some delicious food at de Boskeuken prepared by De Beek. We will have Dropa Disc #004 Evan Parker – John Edwards – Steve Noble: PEN cd available for purchase and will give PEN and the test pressing of Ballister: Low Level Stink a spin, official release for both releases is planned on March 19th when Ballister hits DE Studio.
On Saturday 18 February we team up with grambacht and move to the wonderful new art hub Artenova (across the train station of Mechelen) for a double bill with Ilta Hämärä (Bart Sloow & Timo van Luijk) and Jeph Jerman & Tim Barnes. Make a reservation here !

This week the Oorstof fall season finally has lift off. On Thursday September 29th Het Bos and Oorstof present an evening of punk legends working very much in the now !
Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Stooges) is at it with Andrea Belfi and Stefano Pilia in Il Sogno Del Marinaio, G.W.Sok (The Ex) melts The Fall, Can, Sun Ra, Captain Beefheart, Public Image Ltd., and King Tubby with King Champion Sounds, Eve Libertine (Crass) joins the all female post-punk racket of Baby Fire and Forest Management’s John Daniel plays it timeless with his electronic drones and ambient washes. October 6th we move to DE Studio for the world premiere of the stellar duo Mars Baars (Mars Williams & Ab Baars), the Momentum Trio with members of Large Unit and a piano solo touching on Alice Coltrane and Cecil Taylor by Ka Baird.
