Getting really close to the Summer Bummer Festival that will go down on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of August at Zuiderpershuis. So we thought a good time to give you an update:
– The Summer Bummer timing is now official and online!
– The superb record fair will have stands by Dropa Disc, ROTKAT, Morbus Gravis, Knotwilg, Sloow Tapes, Instant Jazz, Timo Van Luijk and a dedicated artists merch stand of course.
– Visitors will be able to enjoy some exquisite home made slow food at the festival.
– The online pre-sales tickets will save you 3 EUR on a day ticket and a whopping 6 EUR on a weekend ticket.
– Online pre-sales will end on Friday August 25th at midnight. So no time to waste… Get your tickets while they last !

Nice to see so many people came out for the Ballister show and the presentation of our 2 new Dropa Disc releases. And The next Oorstof event is coming up this Thursday March 23rd already at the mighty Zuiderpershuis. Belgian percussionist Jakob Warmenbol (Bolhaerd, The Rova Special Sextet) and Swiss-Swedish reed player Sebastian Strinning (Joachim Badenhorst, Frank Gratkowsky) will record their debut album as the next pony level and Chicago expat and percussionist Frank Rosaly will play a rare solo set for the first time on a Belgian stage. Reservations (3 EUR discount) can be made here !
And because we like to spoil you with good music on March 31st also at Zuiderpershuis, French-Norwegian band Dans Les Arbres with Christian Wallumrød, Xavier Charles, Ivar Grydeland and Ingar Zach in the ranks will present the brand new record Phosphoresence out on HUBRO and Belgian-Norwegian alliance Veder feat. Niels Van Heertum, Eivind Lønning, Joachim Badenhorst and Ruben Machtelinckx will tackle texture, melody, improvisation and composition with 3 horns and acoustic guitar. Here at the Oorstof HQ we always are excited about the next event and we always try to convince people it’s more than worth it to come down for the shows. And then there’s the Oorstof events where we do not need to convince anyone that missing out is missing out on something exceptional indeed. This is certainly the case for the double bill that’s on this Wednesday March 1st for which we team up with the good people of De Singer at Rijkevorsel. Stellar, yes sir, that’s the least we can say of the artists that are lined up.
This Is Our Language, a reference to Ornette Coleman’s classic album This Is Our Music, is the name by which Rodrigo Amado and his brothers in music Joe McPhee, Chris Corsano and Kent Kessler since 2015 fuse past and future into an ultimate free jazz trip. Giovanni Di Domenico, Gonçalo Almeida and Balázs Pándi in their turn use Cement Shoes as a moniker, a perfect way to describe how they will nail you to the floor while further crossing and exploring the sonic borders and possibilities of improvised music.
